Yes, once again I will be running through the streets of Atlanta in my undies in February!
"Why?!" you may ask. I am running for my little buddy Jack, one of my very favorite kiddos. Jack is 10 years old and has been battling neurofibromatosis or "NF" since he was diagnosed at the age of two. NF is a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow on nerves anywhere on the body, including the brain and spinal cord. NF is unbelievably common, affecting 1 in every 3,000 births, yet it is still widely unknown. More prevalent than cystic fibrosis, inherited muscular dystrophy, Huntington’s disease, and Tay Sachs COMBINED, NF affects people of all ethnicities, and 50% of all cases arise in families with no history of the disorder. Anyone's next child could be born with NF.
Currently, there is no cure or effective treatment, however, through monies raised through events such as Cupid's Undie Run, there have been remarkable strides made in medical research in recent years.
Please join me in helping to find a cure for NF by donating to my run. No amount is too small.
